Dr. Helen Chung
Dr. Helen Chung completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Calgary after receiving her Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Alberta. She serves as Canadian Ophthalmological Society (COS) Anterior Segment Surgical Training Committee Co-Program Director, and COS Laser Simulation Surgical Training Committee Co-Program Director.
Dr. Chung has participated in research on subjects including glaucoma, ocular trauma, refractive surgery, and competency-based medical education. Her projects have been published in multiple well-renown journals and she has presented her work at national and international conferences, including in Vienna and Bangkok. Her research has been awarded with grant funding through the Calgary Eye Foundation.
Dr. Chung has been honoured with accolades during her training, including the Dr. Ernest A Johnson Prize in Ophthalmology, the Dr. Henry Wyatt Prize in Ophthalmology, the Mark Cohen Ophthalmology Prize, and the Reg Martiniuk Award for Research.

Dr. Chung enjoys travel and trying different food around the world. She is certified as a PADI Scuba Open Water Diver. Her past athletic pursuits include playing goalie for a women’s ice hockey team.
